CERT Weekend Hybrid Academy
Weekend-Focused EMT Training | Live Virtual Support | National Registry EMT Certification | 5-Weekend Format
The CERT Weekend Hybrid Academy is an intensive EMT training program designed for students who want a structured, flexible pathway into emergency medical services without committing to a traditional weekday classroom schedule. This program combines interactive online learning, optional live virtual instructor support, and high-performance weekend practical training to prepare students for real EMS environments.
Over the course of 5 weekends, students complete their hands-on EMT training in person at our Fairfax training center. Weekend sessions are focused, demanding, and practical, emphasizing patient assessment, emergency care skills, team-based scenarios, high-fidelity simulation, and real-world decision-making.
Class Schedule
In-Person Practical Sessions:
Saturdays & Sundays
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Optional Live Virtual Classroom Sessions:
Wednesdays
8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Saturdays
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Live virtual classroom sessions are offered twice per week during the academy. These sessions are not required, but students are strongly encouraged to attend. They provide additional instructor guidance, academic reinforcement, review of key EMT concepts, and an opportunity for students to ask questions as they progress through the online portion of the course.
The online course platform includes interactive training, scenario-based learning, simulations, and guided academic content designed to help students build a strong foundation before applying those concepts during weekend practical sessions.
During the in-person weekends, students are expected to perform at a high level. Training is intensive, hands-on, and skills-driven, with a strong focus on developing confidence, competence, professionalism, and readiness for emergency medical service roles.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to pursue certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), a key credential for entering EMS, public safety, healthcare, or future medical education pathways.
CERT Clinical Fellowship (Optional Add-On)
The CERT Clinical Fellowship is an advanced professional development track available to select EMT students seeking deeper exposure to real patient care environments.
Fellows have access to up to 120 hours of clinical rotations, providing firsthand experience in emergency medicine and healthcare teamwork while working alongside experienced providers.
Admission to the Fellowship is highly selective and requires a pre-screening interview. Only a limited number of students are accepted into each academy.
Fellowship Fee: $2,000
Students who are not accepted into the Fellowship will receive a full refund of the Fellowship fee. Students who are removed from the program for failure to meet professional or performance standards are not eligible for refunds.
