American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Providers Course – Blended Learning Option

The Blended Learning BLS Providers Course offers maximum flexibility, combining online learning with a focused, in-person skills session. This option is perfect for busy professionals who need to balance training with a hectic schedule while still receiving the highest standard of lifesaving instruction.

How It Works:

  1. Online Prerequisite: Complete the self-paced, interactive online portion of the course at your convenience. This includes engaging video instruction, real-world scenarios, and essential knowledge checks.
  2. In-Person Skills Session: Once the online portion is complete, attend a hands-on skills session led by a certified instructor to practice and demonstrate CPR, AED use, and choking management for adults, children, and infants.

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Renewal Course

The AHA BLS Renewal Course is designed for healthcare providers who currently hold an unexpired American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. This course reinforces and updates critical skills in high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, use of an AED, and effective team-based resuscitation.

Who Can Take This Course?

This course is only available to individuals with a valid, unexpired AHA BLS certification. If your certification is expired, or if you hold a BLS certification from another organization, you must complete either the AHA BLS In-Person Course or the AHA BLS Blended Option instead.

Course Content Includes:

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Effective airway management and rescue breathing
  • Relief of choking for victims of all ages
  • Team dynamics and communication in multi-rescuer resuscitation scenarios

Course Completion

Upon successful completion of the course and skills assessment, students will receive a new American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard, valid for two years.

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Skills Session

The AHA BLS Skills Session is the required hands-on testing component for individuals who have successfully completed the HeartCode BLS Online Course through the American Heart Association website or were issued the course by their employer. This session serves as Part 2 of the HeartCode BLS certification process and is mandatory to receive an official AHA BLS Provider certification.

Who Needs This Session?

This session is for those who have already completed the HeartCode BLS Online Course (Part 1) and need to fulfill the hands-on skills testing requirement. You must present your valid HeartCode BLS Online completion certificate to participate.

Skills Sessions Available

We offer BLS Skills Sessions Monday through Saturday at 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 8:00 PM, providing flexible scheduling options to fit your needs.

What to Expect:

  • Hands-on practice and skills assessment with an AHA-certified instructor
  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS Provider Course

The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course is designed for healthcare professionals who manage cardiovascular emergencies, including cardiac arrest, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes. This course follows the latest American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines and emphasizes a team-based, systematic approach to resuscitation and emergency response.

This blended-learning course consists of two parts:

  1. HeartCode ACLS Online Component – A self-paced, interactive eLearning course that covers core ACLS concepts, including advanced airway management, pharmacology, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. This portion must be completed prior to the hands-on session.
  2. Hands-On Skills Assessment – A required in-person session where students will practice and demonstrate proficiency in high-quality CPR, airway management, and team-based resuscitation scenarios using high-fidelity simulation.

The ACLS Skills Session is for healthcare providers who have already completed the HeartCode ACLS Online Component and need to complete the required in-person skills assessment to obtain their AHA ACLS Provider Certification. The American Heart Association PALS Online Course is for anyone who may not have time to sit in the classroom portion of the course, or anyone who prefers an interactive online training course. This course and certification card are identical to the "in classroom" PALS Course.

CERT Fast Track EMT Course

Accelerated EMT Training | National Registry Certification | 1-Month Intensive

The CERT Fast Track EMT Course is a full-time, accelerated training program designed for highly motivated students seeking National Registry EMT certification in just one month.

This intensive format delivers the same comprehensive curriculum, professional instruction, and real-world preparation as our extended academies — condensed into a structured, rigorous schedule for students ready to train at a professional pace.


Class Schedule

Monday–Thursday
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM


Training Includes

Students receive complete instruction and hands-on preparation in:

• Emergency medical care and patient assessment
• Trauma, cardiac, and medical emergency management
• Airway, breathing, and respiratory support
• Patient packaging, transport, and EMS operations
• All cognitive and psychomotor competencies required for EMT certification

Instruction combines structured lectures, extensive lab practice, high-fidelity simulation, and supervised clinical experiences — building both competence and confidence in real patient care environments.


Certification

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be certified as Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and prepared for immediate entry into EMS or advancement within healthcare pathways.


Payment Terms

Deposit: $699 non-refundable deposit required to reserve a seat
Balance: Remaining tuition due 30 days prior to class start
Refund Policy: Tuition (excluding deposit) refundable until 30 days before start date
Late Payment: Students unpaid at the 30-day deadline will be removed and deposit forfeited

The Fast Track course does not follow installment plans available in extended academies. Full payment is required under these terms.


Optional Add-On: CERT Pre-Med Pathway

For students pursuing medical school or competitive healthcare programs, the CERT Pre-Med Pathway provides expanded clinical exposure, verified documentation, and structured mentorship.

Pathway features include:

• Up to 120 hours of supervised clinical experience (standard EMT ≈16 hours)
• Priority scheduling across emergency departments, urgent care, long-term care, ambulance ride-alongs, and standby events
• Official CERT Clinical Portfolio documenting patient contacts, skills, evaluations, and verified hours
• Opportunity to request formal letters of recommendation from CERT leadership

Participation is selective and application-based. If not accepted, the $1,500 Pathway fee is fully refunded.

Participation does not guarantee admission to medical school or employment.

CERT Evening Academy EMT Course

Evening EMT Training | National Registry EMT Certification | 8-Week Program

The CERT Evening Academy EMT Course is a comprehensive 8-week training program designed for motivated students who need to balance EMT education with work, school, or other daytime commitments. This program delivers the same National Registry–aligned curriculum, hands-on instruction, and real-world preparation as our accelerated academies—structured into a consistent evening schedule.

The Evening Academy is ideal for students seeking a disciplined, immersive EMT education without sacrificing daytime responsibilities.

Monday – Thursday
6:00 PM – 10:00 PM


What You’ll Learn

Students receive complete EMT instruction and skills training, including:

  • Emergency medical care

  • Trauma and cardiac management

  • Airway and respiratory support

  • Patient assessment and transport

  • All core psychomotor and cognitive skills required for EMT certification

Instruction includes structured classroom lectures, extensive hands-on lab practice, realistic emergency simulations, and supervised clinical rotations. This approach ensures students graduate with both competence and confidence in patient care.


Certification

Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible for National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification and are prepared for immediate entry into EMS or continued advancement in healthcare and allied health professions.


Payment Terms for the Evening Academy

  • Deposit: A $699 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a seat.

  • Balance: Remaining tuition must be paid according to the selected payment plan or in full by the published deadline.

  • Refund Policy: Payments made beyond the deposit are refundable only in accordance with CERT’s published refund policy.

  • Failure to Pay: Students who fail to meet payment deadlines may be removed from the program, and the deposit forfeited.


Optional Add-On: CERT Pre-Med Pathway

For students planning to pursue medical school, physician assistant programs, nursing, or other competitive healthcare careers, CERT offers the Pre-Med Pathway as a selective, optional add-on to the Evening Academy.

This pathway is designed to significantly enhance medical and clinical applications through verified experience, mentorship, and documentation beyond standard EMT training.

Pre-Med Pathway Benefits Include:

  • Up to 120 hours of supervised, verified clinical rotations
    (Standard EMT students complete approximately 16 hours)

  • Priority scheduling across:

    • Emergency Departments

    • Urgent Care

    • Long-Term Care Facilities

    • Community and athletic standby events

  • A CERT Clinical Portfolio, professionally documented on official CERT letterhead, including:

    • Verified patient contacts

    • Skills performed or observed

    • Instructor and evaluator feedback

  • Eligibility for formal letters of recommendation from:

    • Lead Instructors

    • Program Director

    • President of CERT

    • CERT’s Medical Director (licensed emergency physician)

CERT Weekend Academy

Weekend-Only EMT Training | National Registry EMT Certification | 8-Week Format

The CERT Weekend Academy is a focused, hands-on EMT training program designed for students balancing full-time work, academic schedules, or other weekday commitments. Over the course of 8 weekends, students engage in real-world emergency medical instruction without sacrificing flexibility or instructional quality.

Class Schedule:
Saturdays & Sundays
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Held in person at our Fairfax training center, this program combines high-fidelity simulation, interactive labs, and professional mentorship to prepare students for real emergency medical service roles.

Upon successful completion, students will be eligible for certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT)—a key credential for entering EMS or building a foundation for further healthcare education.


Optional Add-On: CERT Pre-Med Pathway

The CERT Pre-Med Pathway is a highly selective enhancement to the EMT program, created for students pursuing medical school or other competitive healthcare careers. This pathway is exclusive to CERT and is unlike any offering at other EMT schools in the region.

The program is designed to provide significantly expanded clinical exposure, structured evaluation, and documentation that strengthens medical school applications through verifiable experience—not just required hours.

Students accepted into the Pre-Med Pathway receive:

  • Up to 120 hours of supervised, documented clinical rotations across hospitals, urgent care, long-term care, and real-world standby events (vs. 16 hours in the standard track)

  • Priority scheduling for clinical shifts at high-volume facilities

  • A CERT Clinical Portfolio: a professional transcript on official letterhead documenting patient contacts, clinical skills performed or observed, total hours, and environments covered

  • Eligibility to receive formal letters of recommendation from:

    • Lead instructors

    • Program Director

    • President of CERT

    • CERT Medical Director (licensed emergency physician)

  • Potential to return as a paid lab instructor, gaining additional leadership experience and income to help offset tuition costs


Selective Admission & Application Process

Please note that participation in the Pre-Med Pathway is not guaranteed. Interested students must complete an application and participate in a pre-screening interview. Selection is based on demonstrated professionalism, motivation, and alignment with the goals of the program.

Only students who successfully complete the interview process will be admitted. If a student is not accepted, the Pre-Med Pathway fee will be fully refunded.

EMT Psychomotor Exam

CERT LLC offers the EMT Psychomotor Exam, designed for individuals seeking Legal Recognition, Reentry, or Challenge certification in Virginia. This exam follows the BLS Psychomotor Skill Verification Process implemented by the Office of EMS as of January 1, 2023.

Who Needs This Exam?

  • Legal Recognition: Candidates with current EMS certification from any U.S. state or territory who wish to obtain Virginia EMT certification.
  • Reentry: Individuals whose Virginia EMT certification has expired within the past two years and need to complete testing to reinstate it.
  • Challenge: Eligible LPNs, RNs, PAs, and Military Corpsmen who have met all prerequisites and seek EMT certification.

Hybrid EMT Academy

Live Interactive Online Training + Two-Week Skills & Clinical Residency

The Hybrid EMT Academy combines structured live online education with an immersive in-person residency designed to prepare students for real-world patient care.

After Registration

Students receive immediate access to the course portal, including:

• Program materials and structured learning modules
• The rotating live lecture and virtual lab schedule
• Demonstration videos and instructional resources
• Direct communication with instructors and program staff
• Their selected two-week Skills Residency date

Students then begin completing the required didactic coursework in sequence while preparing for their in-person training.

Phase I — Remote Interactive Education

Phase I is completed remotely through scheduled live lectures and virtual lab demonstrations delivered by CERT instructors.

Sessions operate on a continuously rotating schedule, allowing students to complete the didactic portion at a pace that fits their availability, provided all required instruction is completed in order prior to the Skills Residency.

Phase II — Two-Week Skills & Clinical Residency

After completing Phase I, students attend their selected two-week residency at our Northern Virginia training facility.

The residency runs Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and includes:

• 80+ hours of intensive hands-on skills training
• High-fidelity simulation and scenario-based instruction
• Instructor-led evaluations and team-based exercises
• Clinical rotations with real patient exposure
• Ambulance ride-alongs and supervised medical standby opportunities

Clinical and field experiences are typically scheduled on evenings and weekends.

Discounted housing is available for students traveling to attend.
